Chocolate chip cookie heart shaped for Valentine's Day

In the United States, chocolate chip cookies are a classic treat for special occasions, and Valentine's Day is no exception. These heart-shaped cookies combine American tradition with a special touch: they are made with extra virgin olive oil from Spain, giving them a crispy outside and a soft inside.

Additionally, we decorate them with candy-coated chocolate pieces and colorful sprinkles to make them even more festive and full of love. They are perfect for gifting or enjoying with a loved one on this special day.

How to make chocolate chip cookie heart-shaped step by step

  1. Preheat the oven to 356ºF (180ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the brown sugar, white sugar, and extra virgin olive oil from Spain until you get a smooth mixture.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla, mixing well.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients until a uniform dough forms.
  6. Add the chocolate chips and half of the candy-coated chocolate pieces, mixing them into the dough.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 0.39 in (1 cm) thickness.
  8. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to give them their characteristic shape.
