Pumpkin cakes and cupcakes are a healthier alternative for the children who knock at your door shouting “trick or treat!” This famous and nowadays typical tradition of children going door to door asking for sweets did not become common until well into the 20th century. Its origins are found in Europe, where Christian beggars would go from town to town asking for “soul cakes” in exchange for prayers for the deceased. Little by little, this tradition evolved into the Halloween celebration that we know and celebrate today.
