Sweets are always one of the favourite products for children, although many adults also enjoy them. That's why there's always someone willing to learn how to make homemade candies of some kind. There are sweets of all kinds, and if everyone is clear that the base of candies is sugar, there are still those who doubt the composition of gummies. The truth is that, nowadays, it is possible to prepare homemade gummies easily, and if we prepare them with extra virgin olive oil from Spain, the result will be different and very special. Are you up for trying them? In that case, take note, because we are going to give you a gummy recipe that you will lick your fingers with.

Process of Elaboration

  1. As you will see, this candy recipe is very simple, so it shouldn't take you much time. We will start by hydrating the gelatin: for this, place the sheets in water and keep them like this for about a quarter of an hour. After that time, we can drain the sheets. We will also squeeze them a little to remove excess water.
  2. Now we are going to prepare the syrup. We only need to fill a saucepan with the 100 milliliters of water, add the sugar, and put everything on low heat. If we add some mint here, our sweets will enjoy an extra aroma that will suit them very well.
  3. In addition to the other ingredients, we will also pour the gelatin into the saucepan and stir a little so that it dissolves. However, at this point, we must make sure that the water does not boil, as that will be the moment when we remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Once all this is done, we will proceed to put the mixture in a bowl, and this bowl we will place in another larger container filled with ice. We will put it in a place where we can work comfortably, since the next step is important.
  5. At this point, we are going to incorporate extra virgin olive oil from Spain. We will do it very slowly, while beating the mixture. The idea is to get everything to bind, but without it setting. When it has thickened enough, we can put the result on a tray with parchment paper or in not very large molds. Either way, we will cover everything with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge.
  6. After about two hours, we can take our gummies out of the refrigerator to unmold them. If we have chosen to place the mixture on a tray or in a similar container, we will cut it into square or rectangular portions of the size that seems most appropriate to us.
  7. One last trick, before serving them, will be to coat them with sugar. If we want them to look like pastry, we can replace conventional sugar with a mixture of cornstarch and vanilla sugar. Now all that remains is to serve them on a plate, in a bowl, or as decoration for a cake. Either way, you'll see how your guests don't leave a single one!
