Sunday roast dinner

Sunday roast dinner

At the heart of British culinary tradition lies the «Sunday Roast Dinner,» a meal that brings together families and friends to enjoy a comforting feast at the end of the week. This classic Sunday dish consists of roasted chicken      accompanied by an array of side dishes and sauces, all prepared with care to create an unforgettable culinary experience.

History of the Sunday roast dinner

The Sunday Roast Dinner has deep roots in British history and has been an integral part of the country’s culinary culture for centuries until it reached the United States. Originally, this meal dates back to medieval times when peasant families roasted fresh meat from the livestock they had slaughtered during the week. Over time, this tradition spread to all social classes and became a way to celebrate on      Sundays, the holy day of rest.

  • 4 tablespoons Spanish olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt (optional)

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF (200ºC).
  2. Wash and dry the chicken, then rub with 2 tablespoons of Spanish olive oil. Season with a teaspoon of salt (optional).
  3. Place the potatoes, carrots, onions, rosemary, and garlic on a baking tray. Drizzle with another 2 tablespoons of olive oil from Spain.
  4. Place the chicken on the tray over the vegetables and roast for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before carving and serving with the roasted vegetables.
